Govedartsi is conveniently located close to Sofia, Borovets, Samokov and Malyovitsa. The village has good choice of reasonably priced restaurants. Rila mountains The Rila Mountains in the west of Bulgaria are the highest mountains in the Balkans. The highest top is the Moesala (2925 meters). The national park Rila is located 100 km south of Sofia and is the largest national park of Bulgaria. It includes the highest and most central lain store in the Rila Mountain. In the park hosts a habitat for (rare) wild animals, such as bear, wild hogs, stags, falcons and eagles. There are also several historical cultural places, of which the Rila Monastery (UNESCO) is the most well known. The monument is a characteristic example of the Bulgarian Renaissance (18th–19th centuries) and symbolizes an awareness of a Slavic cultural identity following centuries of occupation. Also nearby are: Borovets Borovets is the oldest and largest winter sport area of Bulgaria. It lies 1350 meters above sea level, on the North slopes of the Rila Mountain. Borovets attracts ski tourists with its 18 ski slopes, with a total length of 60 km, and its sociable centre full of fun.
Belchin Banya Situated to the west of Borovets: Belchin Banya is classic spa village with exceptionally high quality mineral waters. There is an open air swimming pool complex filled with mineral water and is great for a family day out. |
